DESCRIPTION:The foundational training introduces participants to the Towards Healthy Outcomes curriculum developed by Dr. Jacqueline Pei.  Designed for those working with individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)\, the session provides an overview of the THO framework\, its guiding principles\, and its application across the lifespan. The goal is to build a solid understanding of the model\, setting the stage for more in-depth exploration in future sessions. \nLearning Objectives:  1. Gain an overview of the structure and purpose of the THO curriculum\, including its holistic\, lifespan-focused approach to supporting individuals with FASD.  2. Learn about the three foundational beliefs of the curriculum: a developmental perspective\, a strengths-based and empowering approach\, and the influence of interactive systems. 3. Prepares participants for future training by outlining how the THO framework can be used to create individualised\, supportive strategies across various life domains. \nPresenter: Jacqueline Pei\, R. SUMMARY:Tackling Technology: Navigating Safety for Neurodiverse Kids in the Digital World
DESCRIPTION:Learn strategies to help neurodiverse and trauma-affected children navigate online safety and digital challenges.\nWho else misses the days before parenting came with digital dilemmas?  Technology safety is a concern for all families\, but even more so for those raising children with trauma histories or neurodiverse needs.  These children may be more vulnerable to the risks of the online world\, including overstimulation\, unsafe interactions\, and difficulty with boundaries.  In this session\, we’ll explore why digital spaces can be especially tricky for these kids and provide caregivers with practical\, effective strategies to support online safety\, healthy tech habits\, and open communication.  Learning Objectives: Gain insight into why children with trauma histories or neurodiversity often face greater difficulties with technology.  Learn effective strategies to enhance online safety for children. Develop techniques for having meaningful and constructive conversations with children about technology use.  Presenter:  Barb Clark is the Director of Training at Families Rising and head coach of the International FASD Caregiver Kickstart program.  She is the parent of five young children\, including one diagnosed with FASD.  In April 2025\, Barb herself was also diagnosed with FASD\, bringing personal insight and authenticity to her work.  Barb specializes in training and coaching on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD)\, with a focus on challenging behaviours such as raging\, lying\, and stealing.  Her presentations blend practical strategies with humor\, honesty\, and lived experience.  A graduate of the University of Minnesota in Youth Development\, Barb is passionate about changing systems and shifting mindsets.  Her first book\, Raising Kinds and Teens with FASD: Advice and Strategies to Help Your Family Thrive\, will be published on October 21\, 2025.

SUMMARY:Families Moving Forward (FMF) Specialist Training
DESCRIPTION:FMF Foundations is a CDC-recommended\, evidence-based behavioral intervention for families raising children (ages 3 to 13) with prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) or FASD\, and challenging behavior. Best suited for mental health providers\, it offers ready-to-use materials and clinical strategies that are well organized to support families navigating complex situations\, including early adversity and family stress. You’ll receive an application after completing the registration.. The application deadline is July 28\, 2025. \nTraining dates are Aug 18\, 19\, 26 & Sept 2\, 12* or 19*\, 2025. Do you want actionable strategies to reduce stigma that you can implement in your work to promote substance-free pregnancies?\n\nJoin us Thursday\, August 21\, 2025\, from 10am-12pm MDT (12pm-2pm EDT) for Reducing Stigma Associated with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs)\, an interactive\, two-hour virtual training presented by the Center for Health and Safety Culture at Montana State University (MSU) in collaboration with the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). This engaging training features participatory breakout sessions where you’ll have the opportunity to interact with other participants and dive into practical approaches for reducing stigma around FASDs.\n\n\n\n\nPlease note that this is an interactive\, synchronous training. Cameras are encouraged to be on\, and participants will be asked to actively engage in discussions and breakout activities with others. To maintain an open space for participation\, no recording will be available after the training.
