FASD United Launches Research Bank Highlighting Key FASD Research

FASD United is excited to announce the launch of a new resource to quickly and easily find key pieces of research in the FASD field: the FASD United Research Bank!

What is the Research Bank?

The Research Bank is a comprehensive database of the leading research in the areas of FASD and prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE).  We update the Research Bank every week and it currently covers major research highlights going back to May 2022.

How do I access the Research Bank?

The Research Bank can be accessed directly through the FASD United website here

How are articles selected for the Research Bank?

Rather than simply listing research based on an automated search query or tag system, the Research Bank contains every piece of research that has been featured in the FASD United Weekly Roundup, our email newsletter published each Monday since 2010.  The Roundup is the most widely read FASD resource and each piece of featured research has been individually selected for inclusion based on careful consideration of the topic area, source, authors, and overall quality.

While there are numerous FASD-related research articles coming out each week, the articles selected for the Weekly Roundup (and the Research Bank) represent the most important and relevant research for our subscribers, many of whom have a personal connection to FASD.

What types of research are in the Research Bank?

Most of the research is specific to FASD, with particular weight given to research that carries tangible benefits to the FASD community, such as research on successful intervention strategies for families.  The Research Bank also has a wealth of research on PAE, as well as key research into the effects of other substances on pregnancy (such as cannabis and opioids).

FASD United has close relationships with many of the leading researchers in the FASD field, and many articles in the Research Bank have been sent to us directly from the researchers themselves.

How is the Research Bank organized?

Each article in the Research Bank contains the article title, publication, and a detailed synopsis.  Research is listed chronology in order of the edition of the Weekly Roundup that the research appeared in.  Each article links directly to the original publication source.

Can I access all the articles in the Research Bank?

While many of the research articles are open access and publicly available, some articles may require a paid subscription to access the full contents.  If you would like access to an article, please contact the journal publication or reach out to one of the authors to see if you can get more information.

While we are on the subject of research, an important reminder: You still have time to submit an abstract for the 9th International Research Conference FASD, hosted by FASD United.  The call for abstracts has been extended until October 28 (previously Sept 23). The conference takes place March 20-23, 2025 in Seattle.  The contribution of abstracts is critical to the success of our conference, and we value your input greatly.
