FASD United fulfills its mission and strategic objectives through a range of programmatic initiatives and activities serving diverse audiences.

Family Navigator
The navigator serves members of the FASD community, professionals, and anyone in need of one-on-one emotional support, referrals to resources and services, information about prenatal alcohol exposure, or with a question about any facet of FASD.

Affiliate Network
The longest standing and largest coalition of over 50 FASD organizations. Established in 2002 the network exists to share resources, coordinate activities, and serve the needs of communities affected by FASD.

Policy and Training Center
The center strives for legislative and policy outcomes on behalf of individuals living with FASD and trains stakeholders to effectively participate in the passage of meaningful legislation and the pursuit of policy objectives.

Information and Referral Clearinghouse and Media Hub
A marketplace of prevention and intervention ideas, information, and materials featuring the national resource directory, and a hub for mass media outreach, social media communication, and other dissemination strategies.

Weekly Roundup
Published continuously since 2010, the FASD United Weekly Roundup is an email newsletter featuring news, features, events, editorials, funding opportunities, and other information and resources.

Justice Center
The center conducts and promotes legal trainings and conferences, provides guidance and referrals to families facing legal proceedings, and issues amicus briefs, among other activities.

FASD National Partner Network

A CDC initiative to build a collaborative framework of national partner organizations where FASD United brings the voice of living experience, centering voices of people with FASD and birth parents to the work done by clinical organizations by 1) reducing prenatal alcohol and other substance use, 2) improving support services and access to care, and 3) improving identification and health of children and families with FASDs.

International Research Conferences on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders

These advanced-level conferences bring together global experts from multiple disciplines to share international research. From pure science, to prevention, diagnosis, and intervention across the lifespan, these conferences address the implications of this research and promote scientific/community collaboration. They provide an opportunity to enhance understanding of the relationships between knowledge and research and critical actions related to FASD.

Collaborative Initiative on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders
FASD United leads the educational component of the world’s largest FASD research consortium promoting scientific findings to policymakers, public health professionals, multidisciplinary service providers, and the public.    

FASD in the Military Health System

FASD United works in collaboration with the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) Center for Health Services Research to address fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) in the Military Health System (MHS). Prior to the launch of the FASD Prevention and Clinical Guidelines Research project in 2022, there were no studies of FASD in the MHS, where prevalence of alcohol use is higher than the national average.

Stars for Starla
A recognition program named for a courageous self-advocate celebrating the strengths and talents of youth living with FASD.

Hall of Fame
Founded in 2005, the Hall of Fame honors heroes living with FASD, and the families, advocates, and professionals devoted to researching, preventing, and treating the disabilities.
