Learn With Liv: Internship at FASD United
As Liv interns at FASD United, she will share what she is learning and doing to inspire and explore FASD awareness through a public health lens. In her time with our organization, she will have opportunities to experience the roundedness of our programs, aid in important projects, and explore her understanding through reflection.
“Hello everyone, the weather has finally gotten warmer in DC, which has made this week so enjoyable.
I also had a wonderful week at FASD United. This week is officially the last week of my internship, so I was wrapping up some final projects today. I worked on polishing up a Canva project to create various templates for FASD United and other affiliate organizations to use. I am so excited to see how other organizations can utilize the templates that I have created, and I hope that my designs are not only engaging but also easy to follow. I know how much hard work and time goes into designing templates, so my goal for this project was to have a basic outline so organizations can focus on rolling out content more easily. One thing I have learned in the nonprofit field is that there is stuff going on every single day. There are always upcoming events or work that needs to be done, so by creating templates, I hope to ease some stress. I also love incorporating our theme, “Seat at the Table,” into these templates. I’ve done a lot of work utilizing this theme, so I feel like I have a lot of experience on how to properly use this theme and make all of the work cohesive.
Today, I also worked on building my portfolio with all of the projects that I have completed during my time at FASD United. It was so amazing seeing the weeks of hard work that I have done all in one place, and it has reminded me of how much my skills have grown throughout these past 15 weeks. It also made me reflect on how many different areas of public health I got to work on throughout this internship. I got to work on design, policy, social media, blog posts and an interview, Excel sheets, and so much more. I decided to take some screenshots of what I’ve worked on and write a few sentences about my task and how I completed it. It was fun to look back at all of the different projects I have worked on since January.
I also want to thank everyone for reading my Learn with Liv’s. These blog posts have been so fun to write every week and have also allowed me to reflect upon the work I’ve done, as well as any upcoming goals I have for myself. I love sharing with you all of the progress I have made and looking back at some of my first posts; I can really see how I have grown as a team member and as an individual. Thank you for joining me on my journey so far at FASD United.”
