Andrew Peterson Runs 20th Marathon for FASD Awareness
Andrew Peterson will be running his 20th full marathon on November 5th 2022 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He will be running under the name “NOlimits2Caring” building upon his social media nameNOlimitsAndrew.
For his 20th Marathon, Andrew will be raising funds for FASD United to build awareness of the FASD Respect Act, proposed federal legislation addressing Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), while also generating additional interest among people about the prevalence of FASD.
Born with FASD, Andrew Peterson continues to overcome challenges and serves as a powerful inspiration for the entire FASD community. As a kid, school was never easy, but Andrew took on the challenges head on, studying and practicing his academic skills at home everyday. Today at age 29, Andrew learns by observation and continued practice.
Amid the ongoing challenges of FASD, Andrew is a true running champion, earning four varsity letters in high school cross country and six gold medals in Special Olympics national and world competitions.
In November, Andrew will complete his 20th full marathon. Among his many previous marathons, Andrew considers his greatest accomplishment to be qualifying for the prestigious Boston Marathon and completing the grueling course.
Andrew has found his voice as a national speaker, sharing his story of resilience and his message of respect and inclusion to over 150,000 students, community organizers and business leaders over the past decade. Andrew’s story caught the attention of ESPN, which produced a feature program highlighting Andrew’s running accomplishments and his experiences living with FASD, bringing him to a nationwide audience and earning an Emmy nomination in the process.
Most recently, Andrew was named Cross County Head Coach at his alma mater, becoming the first Head Coach with an intellectual disability in any sport among the 400 members of the Indiana High School Athletic Association.
Andrew continues to find great joy and meaning in running. With incredible sportsmanship, dedication and work ethic, his passion remains helping others. “I want to give runners like me the same support the Indiana running community has always given me.”
