At FASD United, we are committed to making a difference in the lives of people with FASD. We pride ourselves on our successful advocacy efforts and strive to provide support for those affected by FASD. That’s why we are excited to announce two new members of the FASD United Affiliate Network – Dream Acres in Kansas and SC Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services. Read on to learn more about what these two affiliates bring to the FASD United Affiliate Network, an autonomous group of 36 organizations focused on FASD.

Dream Acres, located in Kansas, exists to provide a safe, supported living environment for individuals living with a FASD through on-site living units and added employment opportunities with support staff providing supervision and oversight. Dream Acres was founded in 2022 and came from the lived experience of parenting children living with FASD into young adulthood and seeing the need for housing options at the critical transition into adulthood. The founders are currently parenting 9 children living with the effects of prenatal exposure, each with their own unique gifts and challenges.

The second affiliate is SC Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services (SCADAS), which is located in South Carolina. The SC Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services (DAODAS) partners with the state’s 31 county alcohol and drug abuse authorities to provide prevention, treatment and recovery services across all 46 counties. They also work with a range of public and private service providers, including opioid treatment programs, recovery organizations, hospitals and community distributors of the overdose antidote Narcan®. SC Department of Social Services (DSS) partnered with DAODAS in September 2022 to launch a FASD Campaign “Don’t Risk It” to bring awareness and education surrounding FASD and developed the SCDontriskit.com website which has information about FASD and resources.

We are so proud here at FASD United to welcome Dream Acres and SCADAS into our Affiliate Network! These two new affiliates demonstrate our commitment to providing support and resources for people with FASD.
