FASD United Welcomes Heather French and Launches Family Navigator Program

Heather French, the mother of five children, including three with an FASD diagnosis, has joined FASD United to lead the organization’s new Family Navigator program.

The FASD United Family Navigator was established to provide the FASD community with expert confidential support and referrals. Individuals living with FASD and their families and caregivers can utilize the navigator program by contacting Heather for one-on-one, confidential emotional support, referrals to resources and services, and information about the risks associated with prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE).

Heather possesses strong interpersonal skills, empathy, professional experience working with families, familiarity with resources, and firsthand knowledge navigating diverse systems of care on behalf of children and adults living with FASD.

Through the navigator program, Heather will listen to your concerns and needs, connect you with clinical, educational, and legal resources and services, and help prepare you to advocate for yourself or your child or family member.

As a parent and co-host of an FASD support group, Heather has the experience to identify untapped resources and she understands and respects the diverse values and cultures of the individuals and families in need of support.

Many families new to the world of FASD, or who are facing unique challenges often find that the most valuable resources are other family members and caregivers living with similar experiences. Heather brings families together to solve shared problems and exchange mutual support. In addition to passing on her own expertise, Heather can refer you to a growing network of FASD advocates who can offer assistance benefiting you and your family.

There is no cost for family navigation support services. To learn more and contact Heather French visit the FASD United Family Navigator.

I am a grandparent raising my grandson who has been diagnosed with FASD as well as other disabilities. I live in Colorado and thankfully last year learned very much about how to parent a child with FASD from FASCETS an organization in Oregon. We all are constantly looking for help and support .
