New Year, New Home: FASD United Announces New Location for National Office

The team at FASD United is excited to announce that we have moved to a beautiful new office space!

Our organization has been rapidly growing and changing. In the past year, our staff has doubled and the impact of our programs continues to expand. We’ve recognized that our physical space needs to grow alongside our organization.

While many of us work remotely across the country, four of our team members work in-person in our Washington, D.C. office. In December 2023, the lease to our office of the past ten years ended.  We decided to take this opportunity to expand our in-person presence in our nation’s capital.

FASD United’s national office is now located in Canal Square at:

1054 31st St NW #204
Washington, DC 20007

We’re excited that we are now accepting mail at this location and we’re retiring our PO Box.

Nestled in the historic Georgetown neighborhood, our new office space is an ideal location for inviting our community to engage in our work. After years of a remote-style presence, our new office will deepen our work by offering us a great place to host in-person board meetings. We’re excited for this new space to have coffee with donors and advocates.  It will be a great place for interns and volunteers to gain hands-on experience in the FASD field, including our new intern Liv Gargiulo, who just joined our team.

We view our new space as more than an office.  It is a true community hub, open to the FASD community to pull up a seat at our table and join us.  Our national office will serve as the hub of our expanded reach across the country serving the FASD community.

With a conference room, several offices, and a large common area, this space is flexible enough to accommodate our growing needs, while serving as a foundation grounding us in the heart of our Nation’s Capitol.  With its warm, open, and modern feel, with plenty of natural light, the space is ideal for making everyone feel welcome and energized to advocate!

FASD United President Tom Donaldson reflects that, “FASD United has had several different national offices in Washington, DC over the years and this location in the heart of Georgetown is by far the most welcoming, inclusive, and expansive space we’ve ever had. I’m excited to get to work in these wonderful surroundings with our local staff, board members, and volunteers, along with our entire team.  You’re all welcome to join us and stop by whenever you’re in town.”

The new space provides us with several specific new opportunities, including:

  • A prime downtown location to expand our existing Federal policy work
  • Expanded conference room space for meetings
  • Dedicated shipping and fulfillment station to quickly respond to orders from the FASD United online store
  • Increased accessibility (ADA compliance, elevators, open space)

Chris Melfi, our Office Associate, says, “I’m looking forward to having a space where our entire staff can collaborate and continue to grow.” FASD United Communications Director Andy Kachor adds that, “This new space is an incredible opportunity to expand our reach in the community.  I’m excited for this new home base of operations.”

We are in the midst of setting up the office, assembling furniture, and putting the finishing touches on our new space.  We will be sharing more updates soon, including many more photos and a full video tour.

Emma Baldwin, our Development Associate, remarks that, “As development staff, I am eager to physically welcome people into our work.  As someone with a disability myself, I am happy to be moving into an ADA-compliant space that will serve as a blank canvas for accessible design.”

FASD United started a campaign for our community to contribute to setting up the space for success. Please consider donating funds to cover costs of furniture, movers, and supplies here:  https://fasdunited.org/donations/8283/

We look forward to you joining us.  Please pull up a seat to our table!
