FASD Research Conference Now Offering CE Credit Hours to Social Workers
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – Social workers may now receive continuing education contact hours by attending the 9th International Research Conference on Adolescents and Adults with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), hosted by FASD United on April 11-14, 2024 in Seattle, Washington. This multidisciplinary conference will be of special interest to social workers, as front-line service providers to those in need, as well as anyone working towards an advanced understanding in the field of FASD.
The National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the largest professional organization of social workers in the United States, states that, “This program is Approved by the National Association of Social Workers (Approval # 886927383-5300) for 25 continuing education contact hours.”
FASD United is honored by NASW’s decision to recognize the value of the Research Conference to its members, who may now utilize the conference as a professional development program and obtain credit hours to fill their licensing or credentialing requirements.
In addition to earning contact hours, social workers attending the conference will gain critically important information and insight into the many facets of FASD and discover how they can best serve individuals with FASD that they work with.
We know that FASD is not rare, affecting an estimated 1 in 20 people. Most people with FASD are undiagnosed, and it is a near certainty that every social worker will encounter someone with an FASD or prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE), typically without knowing it.
Individuals with FASD can succeed with the right services and supports, and that starts with awareness and understanding. When professionals and systems of care, including social workers, are FASD-informed, with programs in place to accommodate the unique needs of FASD, individuals and families thrive.
