Family Navigator
Laura is a passionate FASD advocate, Family Navigator for FASD United, and Board Member of the Texas FASD Network, a FASD United affiliate. As a mother to a young adult son whose FASD diagnosis came in his teens, Laura has witnessed firsthand the systemic barriers families face across child welfare, education, and the criminal justice system. Her advocacy deepened after discovering that she, too, has FASD—adding a unique self-advocate perspective to her work. She offers empathy and lived experience guidance to families navigating FASD’s complexities.
Laura’s impact spans local, national, and international levels. She has contributed to legislative efforts supporting the FASD Respect Act, developed justice-informed training materials, and recently presented at the 9th International Research Conference on FASD. As a LEND program alum, Laura collaborates in global consortia focused on FASD within the criminal justice system. Her work exemplifies a deep commitment to transforming personal challenges into systems change, awareness, and community empowerment opportunities.
