Youth with FASD – Shine Like the Star You Are

Since it’s rollout in late November of 2021, Stars for Starla Youth Recognition Awards have reached over 200 youth with FASD in 8 countries. Stars for Starla awards are sent to any youth with FASD in recognition of their individual strengths, talents or accomplishments through nomination by their community, family members or by self-nomination.

Youth with FASD can submit artwork for out 2022 Stars for Starla Ornament

The Stars for Starla program is supported through donations, and the sale of our annual Stars for Starla Ornament. FASD United is now searching for our next ornament design through a call for artwork from artistic youth with FASD. We are asking the FASD community to draw a Star that represents their own unique set of strengths, talents and abilities. The winning artwork will be featured on our 2022 Stars for Starla Ornament. Starla was a child with FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder), who during her short life, felt that the stigma associated with FASD  needed to stop.  A powerful self advocate, Starla wanted everyone in her community educated about FASD and how best to support people living with it.  While Starla did face challenges associated with her disability, she had many strengths such as loving to write stories, singing songs, and dancing.

Stars for Starla is a national awareness & fundraising campaign in her honor, focusing on the strengths and talents of youth with FASD as well as their challenges.
