Families Needed to Help Develop Innovative FASD App
If you are the parent or caregiver of a child between the ages of 3 and 12 who has an FASD diagnosis — or confirmed prenatal alcohol exposure without a diagnosis — researchers need your help to test their new FASD app.
Families Moving Forward (FMF) Connect is a smartphone app for parents and caregivers raising children with FASD. Developed by Christie Petrenko, PhD, a clinical psychologist and associate professor at the University of Rochester, and her team, the app provides useful information to help parents and caregivers manage their children’s condition and get peer support.
If you are raising or caring for a 3-to-12-year-old child affected by prenatal alcohol exposure, you live in the U.S., and you use an iPhone or iPad you may be eligible for the study. Participants will benefit from the app, help make sure it is easy to use and is helpful, and receive monetary compensation.
To learn more and to enroll in the study, visit the FMF Connect website, or contact the study team by Register now for Wednesday’s (February 2, 2022) FASD Research Round-up presented by Dr. Petrenko, a member of Collaborative Initiative on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (CIFASD), the world’s largest FASD scientific consortium, and CIFASD director, Ed Riley, PhD., both members of the FASD United Board of Directors. Dr. Petrenko will also talk about the app during a February 15, 2022, FASD United webinar jointly held with new FASD United Family Navigator Heather French.
