FASD United Marks the Retirement of FASD Champion Sr. Suzette Fisher
Sister Suzette Fisher is retiring on June 3, 2022. For over three decades, Sr. Suzette has been a tireless advocate for individuals living with FASD and a true champion in the national effort to prevent alcohol exposed pregnancies.
Sr. Suzette has served with the Sisters of Notre Dame in Toledo, Ohio for over 50 years, celebrating her Golden Jubilee in 2019, and helped to lead the Double ARC Center for FASD, which in 2018 merged with A Renewed Mind.
Double ARC provides much needed support services to children and families living with FASD through intervention, education, and advocacy, and runs a clinic that has diagnosed over 320 children and adults. Sr. Suzette has given invaluable trainings on FASD and developed nationally recognized educational materials. Sr. Suzette’s work has made a tremendous difference to countless children and families living with FASD.
Sr. Suzette has been a cornerstone of the FASD United Affiliate Network, representing Double ARC as our Ohio affiliate at national summits, while serving in key leadership roles in the Executive Council of the Network. Sr. Suzette has been presented with the award for FASD United Affiliate of the Year.
Sr. Suzette described her work with Double ARC as being “very powerful for many families because they finally found someone who understands what they’re going through and can give them some support. There is hope and there is a place to go.”
We at FASD United, along with so many others in the FASD community, will greatly miss working with Sr. Suzette and we wish her a wonderful and well-deserved retirement.

Sister Suzette, As a parent of a now adult son with FASD, I also have had the good fortune of learning from your work and advice at National Meetings with the former FASD Center for Excellence. Thank you for your tireless efforts and may you find joy in your well deserved retirement.
