We are excited to welcome HALO Project International Foundation as the newest member of the FASD United Affiliate Network, a coalition of organizations united to further FASD awareness, provide support, and improve the quality of life for those affected by prenatal alcohol exposure.
Based in Oklahoma, HALO Project is a non-profit organization offering highly impactful mental health programs for kids and families affected by foster care, adoption, intimate partner violence, and childhood trauma. HALO is working to expand their training and support groups on FASD as they fulfill their important mission to “equip families and community partners with proven methods to work toward individual healing and disrupt the cycle of hurt in our community.”
HALO Project is serving Oklahoma’s hurting children through a number of powerful initiatives, including training for professionals and caregivers in trauma- informed care, connecting caregivers to support, and building a network of FASD-trained practitioners. HALO has trained over 2,000 child welfare professionals on how to support vulnerable children.
FASD services offered by HALO include support groups for parents, advocacy work, family support, and counseling for youth and adults. The organization offers Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), an attachment-based approach that is a proven model for improving outcomes for children impacted by trauma.
Launched in 2013 by Cindy Lee, HALO Project has grown to include 22 licensed therapists providing individual counseling services, serving 240 families each week. The organization runs Making Sense of Your Worth, an 8-week program that helps individuals find their true identity and reestablish self-worth.
Addressing the needs of children on an individual and systems level, HALO believes “there is hope for every child and family to experience healing through connection” and that “when people are SEEN, HEARD, & VALUED, they not only survive, they THRIVE.”
